Golf Anti-Counterfeiting Group Sends Another Strong Message to Counterfeiters, Seizes over 42,000 Assets as Part of Three New Raids in China

The U.S. Golf Manufacturers Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group (The Golf Group) announced today a series of three raids against notable counterfeiters and counterfeit sellers in China. During the raid action, The Golf Group worked with more than 20 members of the Shanghai Police to conduct raids at assembly plants, warehouses, and apartments in Dongguan City.

In total, more than 42,725 pieces of counterfeit clubs, components and apparel including 19,248 labels bearing the marks of several Golf Group members, including Srixon /Cleveland Golf/XXIO, Titleist, FootJoy, TaylorMade, PXG, Callaway, and PING were discovered and seized. These raids were conducted between September 29 - October 13, 2022, and add to the Golf Group’s total of more than two million counterfeit products seized by law enforcement since its inception in 2004.

“The Golf Group continues to collaborate with authorities in China to curb this illegal activity and punish offenders,” said Frankie Ho, Director, IP for PXG. “We hope this activity reminds criminals across the world that we will spare no effort to end the sale of these illegal products and claim all punitive damages. It has always been our goal to protect consumers from the dangers of counterfeit golf products, and as long as there are criminals willing to break the law to do that, we will be working to bring them to justice.”

Counterfeit products confiscated in the raids included golf clubs, club heads, shafts, grips, bags, labels, and tools used to facilitate creation of products. During the raids, three suspects were detained and/or taken in for further investigation. Photos of the raid can be found on the Golf Group website www.keepgolfreal.com and on Facebook.
